The best general writers' forum I've found. The Watercooler has discussions and tips about all forms of writing, from sf to music to greeting cards and more. There are also grammar areas where you can check your writing, and contests in every group.

Created by Jim Baen, this is a multi-use forum. Writers may submit their work directly to the slush pile of Jim Baen's Universe here, for discussion with others around, to better themselves at their craft. It's a good site and a useful critique forum, but be warned: Barflies can sting! ... Artists can also submit work for similar purposes.
A writers' workshop by Andrew Burt, tailored for new and more veteran writers, and (usually) tamer than the Bar. It also includes a section for those who wish to submit novels for critiquing.
Largest collection of free MP3s to play or download, free MP3 software
3D artists' forum; basically for those who use DAZ, but also including software such as Bryce and Carrera. Has contests all the time. Newbies to this take heart; questions are very welcome.
